We joined our son, daughter and their families for a trip to Idaho to witness first-hand the total solar eclipse. I had low expectations, but was blown out of my mind! It is hard to describe the experience unless you have seen it for yourself. Of course the best part for me was spending time with my grand kids;-)
It was nice to have a big van to fit us all in.
We pulled in to a church parking lot south of Idaho Falls in the middle of the night, and by the time morning came, several other eclipse seekers had joined us.
The climax was something that was amazing to see and experience, but hard to capture on film. When the moon completely covered the sun, you could look at it with your naked eye and it reminded me of the black hole depictions in science fiction movies. There was a perfect circle of complete blackness with flames comeout out all around. It was AMAZING!
Because of our location south of Idaho Falls, we were able to beat it back to Utah ahead of the traffic (great planning, son!). I understand that the next solar eclipses that will be visible from the U.S. will be in 2024 and 2045. I plan to be an eye witness to both!
